El título, Vidente natural, refiere al misterio que rodea la creación y la visión de una obra. ¿Qué es lo que nos atrae de una obra en especial? Toda mirada contiene una pregunta. La experiencia dice que direccionar la mirada teniendo algo en mente hace muy probable que encontremos señales de esto en todas partes. Cosas que nunca habíamos visto de pronto se vuelven visibles: la cantidad de niños que hay en el barrio, por ejemplo, cuando acabamos de tener uno. Lo mismo sucede con ciertas obras, canciones, libros, que parecen hablarnos directamente. Hay personas que ven un número que se repite, o palabras específicas, y de esto extraen un sentido, como indicios. En esos encuentros, la imagen lleva ventaja con respecto a los números y las palabras porque es más ambigua y, por ello, más certera.
Una de las maneras que Isol propone para entrar en este grupo de dibujos es usarlos como oráculo y descubrir qué imagen nos hablará hoy de nosotros. Al inquieto espectador corresponde formular una pregunta y luego obtener un número del bolillero que le señalará una imagen al azar. No perdemos nada con probar y tal vez sea interesante delatar esa relación entre obra y visitante que, con suerte, ocurrirá de todas maneras. Cada pequeña cosa puede hablar del mundo entero, si miramos correctamente. O mejor dicho, creativamente.
Isol (Buenos Aires, 1972) es ilustradora y muchas veces también autora de los textos de sus libros. Con más de veinte títulos publicados en varios países y traducidos en ocho idiomas, su especialidad es narrar a través del diálogo entre imágenes y textos. Exposiciones (selección): La línea inquieta, Galería Asunto, Buenos Aires (2011); Poemas de compañia, Galería Martino Design, Bologna, Italia (2010); Minimondo, Parma, Italia (2007); Panta Rhei, Madrid, España (2005); Magic Pencil, British Council en el Centro Cultural Borges, Buenos Aires (2004). Su trabajo como ilustradora ha sido reconocido internacionalmente con un Premio Golden Apple, con menciones especiales en The White Ravens List y con la selección en dos occasiones como finalista del Premio Hans Christian Andersen, quedando seleccionada entre los cinco ilustradores más destacados del mundo.
Galería Mar Dulce se especializa en obras de pequeño y mediano formato de pintura, dibujo, grabado, fotografía, libros de artista y objetos, realizadas por artistas rioplatenses clásicos y contemporáneos. Junto a la exposición Vidente natural presentamos +COLECTIVA16, una selección de obras realizadas por Daniel Santoro, Lola Goldstein, Luciana Betesh, Ral Veroni, Sofía Wiñazki, Julia Castagno, Walter Álvarez, María Elina Méndez, Leopoldo Torres Agüero, Mercedes Dutto, Delfina Estrada, Cristian Turdera, Cubillas, Laura Varsky, Julio Fuks, Raoul Veroni y Lucía Harari.

The exhibition is comprised of some 20 plus works on paper in collage, charcoal and oil pastel. Whilst realized without the narrative structure that marks Isol’s work in illustrated books, each image nevertheless appears to contain a story and the presence of the written word invites us to view the scenes as excerpts from a tale that we ourselves must complete.
The title Natural Clairvoyant refers to the mystery surrounding the creation and viewing of an artwork. What is it that attracts us to one work in particular? Every gaze contains a question and when we direct our gaze with something on our mind we seem to find related signs everywhere. Things that we had never seen suddenly become visible: the number of children in the neighbourhood for example, once we become parents. The same thing happens with certain artworks, songs or books that appear to address us directly. Some see particular numbers or words repeat themselves, and extract meaning from these 'signs'. In these encounters, the image holds a certain advantage over numbers and words as it is more ambiguous and, as such, more accurate.
The artist suggests that we might enter this group of works by using them as an oracle, discovering which image will talk to us today about ourselves. The eager viewer asks a question and then takes a random number from the tombola that will indicate a particular drawing. We have nothing to lose by trying and it might just prove interesting to uncover the relationship between artwork and viewer that, with luck, would occur in any case. For each little thing can tell us about the whole world, if we look properly. Or should we say...creatively.
Isol (Buenos Aires, 1972) is an illustrator and in many cases also the author of the books that she illustrates. With more than 20 titles published in various countries and translated into eight languages, her speciality is narration through the dialogue between image and word. Her work as an illustrator has been internationally recognized with a Golden Apple award, special mentions in the White Ravens List and her selection as a finalist on two occasions in the Hans Christian Andersen award, placing her amongst the five top illustrators in the world.
